Nigerian singer and pastor, Banky W, has sparked discussions on marital roles after revealing that he is primarily responsible for cooking in his home.

The disclosure has generated mixed reactions online, particularly following a viral video showing the singer preparing a meal.

Speaking during an appearance on the Teju Baby Face Show, Banky W explained that while his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, can cook, it is not something she regularly does.

He noted that the arrangement in their home developed naturally and works for both of them, adding that he enjoys cooking.

According to him, differing expectations about domestic responsibilities often shape public reactions, but each household should define what works best for them.

Banky W also reflected on his wife’s experiences during their journey to parenthood, including multiple in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) attempts. He said those experiences influenced his perspective on shared responsibilities and acts of service in marriage.

He maintained that successful relationships are built on mutual understanding rather than societal expectations, stressing that roles in marriage should be flexible and tailored to individual circumstances.
