The 23-year-old Congolese international scored PSG’s opening goal and struck again in extra time to help the French club defeat Eintracht Frankfurt 5–1.

PARIS — September 3, 2026 — Congolese football star Merveille Kanjinga delivered a decisive performance as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 5–1 after extra time to qualify for the league phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The two clubs entered the return leg level following a 1–1 draw in Germany. PSG therefore needed a victory at home to secure its place in the next stage of the competition.

Kanjinga opened the scoring in the 36th minute after breaking through Frankfurt’s defence. However, the German side equalised in the 76th minute, sending the match into extra time.

The 23-year-old Congolese forward struck again in the 95th minute, connecting with a free kick from Sakina Karchaoui to restore PSG’s lead. Her second goal proved to be the decisive breakthrough.

Karchaoui later scored twice before Rasheedat Ajibade completed the 5–1 victory in added time.

According to the official Paris Saint-Germain match report, Kanjinga’s extra-time goal unlocked the match and helped PSG secure qualification for the league phase.

The result represents another major European achievement for Kanjinga, whose official UEFA profile identifies her as a Democratic Republic of the Congo international.

Speaking after the victory, Kanjinga credited PSG’s determination and the support of the club’s fans for helping the team survive a difficult match.

“We didn’t give up until the end,” she said in a post-match reaction published by PSG.
