French-based rapper of Congolese origin, Gandhi Djuna, popularly known as Maître Gims, is under investigation over alleged financial crimes linked to a real estate project in Morocco.

According to reports, the artist was arrested on March 25, 2026, upon arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport by French anti-fraud authorities. He is being investigated for suspected money laundering and alleged links to organised criminal networks.

Gims was held in custody for 48 hours before being released on March 27 under judicial supervision, a legal condition that allows temporary release while investigations continue under strict restrictions.

Authorities believe the case is connected to a wider international network suspected of financial crimes dating back to 2023. Investigators are examining transactions allegedly used to channel illicit funds into real estate investments across multiple countries.

One of the projects under scrutiny is a luxury housing development known as Sunset Village Private Residences, located near Marrakech in Morocco. The development reportedly includes 117 high-end homes built around a large artificial lagoon spanning approximately 3,000 square metres.

Gims has previously appeared in promotional materials for the project, showcasing amenities such as sports facilities, spa services, and recreational infrastructure.

French prosecutors handling organised crime and financial investigations have indicated that the case involves a network of over 2,000 companies allegedly linked to illicit financial activities, making it one of the significant ongoing financial crime probes in the country.

The investigation could have implications for Gims’ public image, as he remains one of the most commercially successful artists in France, with multiple chart-topping albums and international collaborations.
