ABUJA, Nigeria — 31 August 2026: The official CDCFIB applicant portal is now allowing graduate-category candidates to check whether they reached the final oral-interview stage of Nigeria's 2024/2025 paramilitary recruitment exercise. The live checker asks for a screening number and National Identification Number. Graduates have until Wednesday, 2 September, while NCE, OND and SSCE candidates have a later window.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board says the process is free. Candidates should use only the government portal, not links sent by strangers, unofficial “agents” or messages asking for payment.

How do I check the CDCFIB graduate shortlist?

Open the official recruitment portal, enter the six digits that follow PHYS-2025- in your screening number, provide your NIN and complete the security check. If shortlisted, follow the dashboard instructions to select an interview venue, date and time, then print the invitation letter.

How to check your CDCFIB status

Start at the official CDCFIB applicant portal. The verification page asks for two pieces of information: the remaining six digits after PHYS-2025- in the candidate's screening number and the candidate's National Identification Number.

Complete the security verification and select Check Application Status. A successful candidate should then activate or sign in to the account and follow the instructions displayed inside the official dashboard. Do not post a screening number, NIN, password or invitation letter publicly.

Candidates who cannot remember their screening number can use the board's official screening-number recovery page. That page asks for the NIN and at least one additional identifier, such as a phone number or surname. It should be opened by typing or checking the gov.ng address carefully.

The checker is for people who participated in the completed physical and medical screening. It is not a new application form, and it does not reopen the original recruitment exercise.

Who can check now and who must wait

Graduate-category candidates can check from Monday, 31 August, through Wednesday, 2 September 2026. Candidates who applied with NCE, OND or SSCE qualifications have a separate checking period from Monday, 7 September, through Wednesday, 9 September.

PUNCH's report on the board statement says the recruitment covers four services: the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Daily Post reported the same two checking windows and the board's move to the oral-interview stage.

Applicants in the later qualification categories should not assume that a status message during the graduate window is a final rejection. Their assigned access period has not begun.

What shortlisted candidates must do

The board says shortlisted candidates should choose the nearest available venue, select an interview date and time, and print their invitation letters. The letter carries the required dress code and should be read carefully before travel.

Only shortlisted candidates will be admitted to the final exercise. A portal result is therefore the authoritative next-step notice; an unverified list copied into a blog post, social-media graphic or messaging group is not a substitute.

Candidates should keep a secure copy of the invitation letter and prepare only the documents specified there. The public announcement does not authorise anyone to collect a fee, sell a slot or guarantee selection.

Scam warning and false messages

CDCFIB says it will not notify candidates by email and that legitimate communication should be obtained from the portal. The recruitment is free, and any demand for money should be rejected and reported to an appropriate security authority.

That warning is especially important because recruitment misinformation has circulated before. On 13 August, the Federal Ministry of Information formally rejected a fake CDCFIB statement claiming the exercise had been postponed until after the 2027 election. The ministry said the recruitment remained in progress.

The correct host is recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. Similar-looking addresses, sponsored search results and pages that request payment should be treated with caution. XTRAfrica's earlier DSS recruitment safety guide also explains why applicants should verify government domains before uploading identity documents.

High search interest does not change the official timetable: graduates check now, while NCE, OND and SSCE candidates wait until 7 September. A shortlist result advances a candidate to the oral interview; it is not a final employment offer.
