Ja Rule in Ghana
Last week, American rapper and entrepreneur Ja Rule and his wife Aisha Atkins made a heartfelt trip to Ghana that’s now lighting up social media. Their visit, in partnership with Pencils of Promise, took them through three local schools where education is more than just lessons it’s changing lives.

About Pencils of Promise (PoP) in Ghana
Pencils of Promise (PoP) is a global nonprofit organization focused on improving education in underserved communities. In Ghana, PoP works closely with schools to build classrooms, train teachers, and provide essential resources that support literacy and learning. Since launching its programs in the country, PoP has helped thousands of students gain access to quality education and safe learning spaces and continues to expand its reach across rural regions.

At every stop, the couple witnessed something special students proudly reading with e-readers, kindergartners engaging in emotional learning, and boys and girls learning how to make reusable sanitary pads. It wasn’t just about education. It was about dignity, confidence, and breaking stigma together.
Ja Rule also met students whose reading skills had helped win a local literacy competition. He saw empowered teachers bringing learning to life, armed with training and tools that make a real difference in their communities.

Each classroom showed the same truth: when you invest in education, you invest in the future. It’s how stronger, healthier, and more hopeful societies are built.
"Pencils of Promise" thanked Ja Rule and Aisha for standing with them to support the belief that education is the most powerful tool to shape tomorrow.

Their visit was a quiet revolution not just about what’s happening now, but what’s being created for generations to come.
