On Sunday afternoon, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, visited fellow opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye at Luzira Upper Prison. The visit happened while many people are still worried about the health of political prisoners and their long stays in prison without trial in Uganda.
Bobi Wine shared online that Besigye looked healthier than before, especially compared to the last time NUP leaders tried to see him. During their conversation, Besigye encouraged all opposition supporters to stay strong and united in the fight for freedom. He said that Ugandans—both in and out of prison—are all suffering in different ways under the current system.
After meeting Besigye, Bobi Wine and his team also visited other detained political activists, such as Bobi Young and Muyodi Hamidu. He was unhappy that they are still locked up without being taken to court, even after the Supreme Court ruled that their cases should move to civilian courts.
Bobi Wine criticized the government, saying it’s wrong to keep people in prison without trial. He also urged the public to keep pushing for justice and to stand up against political and legal unfairness.
This visit highlights the ongoing struggle in Uganda, where opposition leaders often face arrests. Supporters of both Besigye and Bobi Wine are still demanding their release and calling for an end to arrests based on politics.
