Rwandan musician Mugisha Ben, widely known as The Ben, has written to the Kicukiro Primary Court asking for a pardon for Sengabo Jean Bosco, also known as Fatakumavuta. The letter, signed by a notary and obtained by IGIHE, shows that The Ben has forgiven Fatakumavuta and is requesting his release.

Dated November 5, 2024, the letter reads,

“I, Mugisha Ben, known as The Ben, am writing to the Kicukiro Primary Court to inform you that I am offering forgiveness for the offenses committed against me, and I am asking that Sengabo Jean Bosco be released.”

This follows a November 6 social media post from The Ben in which he publicly expressed his forgiveness of Fatakumavuta. However, Fatakumavuta's lawyer stated that the court requires a formal letter for the forgiveness to be officially acknowledged; which The Ben did according to the following document:

A notarized letter from Rwandan musician The Ben, formally requesting the Kicukiro Primary Court to pardon Sengabo Jean Bosco (Fatakumavuta) for past offenses. The letter, signed on November 5, 2024, expresses The Ben’s forgiveness and his request for Fatakumavuta’s release.

The request comes after the Kicukiro Primary Court had already decided to detain Fatakumavuta for 30 days while investigations by the prosecution continue. Court documents reveal that The Ben is not the only person pressing charges against Fatakumavuta; others include musicians Meddy, Bahati, and music manager Muyoboke Alex.
