Airtel Africa supports African music through the Trace Awards 2025, helping artists connect globally and boosting the entertainment industry.

Airtel Africa has restated its dedication to promoting African music and talent by using its strong network to help artists achieve success worldwide.

This commitment was highlighted during the Trace Awards and Summit 2025, which took place at The Mora in Zanzibar from February 24 to 26. The event was officially opened by Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, the President of Zanzibar, who emphasized the government's support for the music industry.

“We believe in the power of the entertainment sector to drive change because music is a great tool that inspires empowerment, promotes tourism, encourages economic growth, and enhances social development. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event,” said Dr. Mwinyi.

The awards provided a platform for new talents to connect with a global audience. Timea Chogo, Airtel Tanzania’s Marketing Director, pointed out how the event benefited Tanzanian artists.

“Hosting this international event in Zanzibar has created economic opportunities for artists in Tanzania by allowing them to showcase their talents. Furthermore, we are proud to celebrate this event taking place in our homeland, as nine Tanzanian artists have been nominated. We are aligning connectivity with African creativity to help artists reach greater heights,” said Chogo.

Airtel Africa also played a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication during the event. Airtel Tanzania’s Brand Ambassador, Nassib Abdul, popularly known as Diamond Platnumz, highlighted how the network helped participants stay connected.

“The Trace Awards have brought together people from across Africa and beyond. Airtel’s presence ensures attendees stay connected through data services and other essential communication tools, enabling them to stay in touch with family and friends, conduct business, and share their content with other artists,” he stated.

In addition to celebrating music, the Trace Awards 2025 sparked important discussions about the current state of African music and how to expand its reach to global audiences.
