Fans in Rwanda will get to watch the second installment of the Gladiator film at Canal Olympia in Kigali on November 15, 2024, as it premieres globally.


This sequel comes 24 years after the original Gladiator was released in 2000. The first movie, produced with a $103 million budget, was a global hit and won five Oscars. The second part, with a reported budget of $250–310 million, has been highly anticipated.


Directed by Ridley Scott, who also directed the first film, production started in June 2023 and concluded in January 2024. The film was first showcased in Sydney, Australia, on October 30, 2024.


The premiere schedule includes screenings in Australia and New Zealand on November 14, 2024, followed by the UK and Kigali on November 15, and the U.S. on November 22. The 2-hour and 28-minute film is distributed by Paramount Pictures and produced by companies such as Scott Free Productions and Red Wagon Entertainment.


Written by David Scarpa, based on a story by Peter Craig, the film stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington.
