President Ruto appoints ex-General Robert Kibochi as Mwai Kibaki Hospital board chair
President William Ruto has appointed retired Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi as chairperson of the Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital board for a three-year term, starting November 22, 2024. Kibochi, a retired Kenya Army general, served in the military for over four decades, rising to become the 10th CDF between May 2020 and May 2023.
Ruto also named former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo as chairperson of the Kenya Sugar Board and former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra as chairperson of the Kenya Biovax Institute, both for three-year terms.
Gumbo, previously nominated as a Chief Administrative Secretary, did not assume the role, while Mishra, a medical doctor and former lecturer, brings expertise in medicine and politics to his new position.
Additionally, Ruto appointed five officials to Kenya's Economic Partnership Agreement Council: Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, John Mbadi, Andrew Karanja, Aden Duale, and Salim Mvurya. The council oversees agreements between the EU and African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries.
