President Ruto urges Kenyans to embrace factual criticism, defend progress on development projects

President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to focus on factual and meaningful criticism while evaluating his government’s policies and projects. Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Ruto warned against a culture of negativity, stating it could jeopardize Kenya’s democratic progress and development goals.

“I therefore urge all Kenyans to participate fully in our democratic discourse, even as we work hard in nation-building. At all times, let us endeavour to engage on the basis of truth,” he said.

The President defended his administration’s achievements, highlighting programs like the fertilizer subsidy, which he called a "game changer," and the transformative potential of Taifa Care. Ruto pointed out that the government has delivered on promises, including reducing inflation, improving food affordability, and enhancing services for farmers and Taifa Care registrants.

“When we say that the cost of basic food commodities has come down, it is a fact. When we say that inflation has gone down, it is a fact,” Ruto emphasized.

Ruto also dismissed critics, suggesting their arguments will lose weight as development projects, such as affordable housing, start benefiting Kenyans. He highlighted jobs already created across various sectors and hinted at more progress to come.

“What will they say in a few weeks’ time when we begin to give keys to the new owners of affordable housing units?” he asked.

The President urged citizens to uphold unity and avoid falsehoods that sabotage national growth, reminding them that truth is essential for democracy and progress.
