The family of Faransisiko Saveri Mutuyemungu, a resident of Kigali, Rwanda, is urgently seeking assistance from authorities to locate him after he reportedly disappeared last week. According to his wife, Beyata Musengimana, Mutuyemungu was kidnapped by four unidentified individuals in a white car on Thursday afternoon around 4 p.m.
Mutuyemungu’s disappearance has left his family deeply distressed. Musengimana recounted that her husband, who had been working as a construction worker in Kigali, vanished without a trace. His co-workers mentioned that he worked in the city but regularly returned to their home in the Nyagatovu area of Kimironko.
Musengimana stated that she had been in communication with her husband in the days leading up to his disappearance. She emphasized that Mutuyemungu had no prior history of arrests or any known issues with the authorities. The suddenness of his abduction has left the family in a state of shock.
When approached, Simon Bikorimana, who worked with Mutuyemungu, expressed his confusion and lack of knowledge regarding the incident, noting that he was not present at the time of the abduction.
Efforts to obtain a response from Rwandan government officials have so far been unsuccessful.
By Monday afternoon, Thierry Murangira, a government spokesperson, had not responded to calls or messages.
The situation has raised concerns among human rights organizations, with some suggesting that this could be another case of individuals disappearing under suspicious circumstances involving security forces. Human rights groups have previously accused the Rwandan government of involvement in illegal abductions, a claim that has been consistently denied by Rwandan authorities.
The family continues to appeal for help in locating Mutuyemungu and seeks justice for his safe return.
