Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has sparked public discussion after sharing a Facebook post reflecting on the challenges of mentoring children who are not her own.

In the post, the singer highlighted parental interference as one of the most difficult aspects of guiding minors, questioning the complications that arise when parents become involved in mentorship arrangements.

“The hardest part of mentoring someone else’s child is often the parents’ interference. What’s all this?” Wendy Shay wrote.

Her remarks led to speculation on social media about her relationship with two young influencers, Tracy Shay and Korkor Shay, both of whom have appeared alongside the artist at public events and performances in recent months.

Wendy Shay’s association with Tracy Shay first gained national attention after Tracy went viral for dancing to the singer’s song Too Late during the All Ashaiman Schools Festival. Following public backlash directed at the child, Wendy Shay visited Tracy’s school and announced she would sponsor her education from Class Five through university.

At the time, the singer said her intention was to safeguard Tracy’s future and ensure education remained a priority.

Despite this, Wendy Shay has faced criticism from some members of the public who argue that minors should be protected from the pressures of the entertainment industry. Similar concerns have been raised regarding Korkor Shay, who also gained attention through appearances linked to Wendy Shay’s music.

While Wendy Shay has not suggested any dispute with the children, her comments have reignited broader conversations about celebrity mentorship, parental involvement, and the responsibility of protecting young talent while nurturing potential.
