Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has addressed criticisms surrounding his romantic roles with married female colleagues in movies.
Speaking during a recent interview with BBC Igbo, the actor explained that he always asks his female co-stars—especially those who are married—for permission before touching them during filming.
According to him, the approach is meant to maintain professional boundaries and avoid any potential misunderstandings that could affect their marriages.
Arukwe said he takes this precaution whenever scenes require physical interaction. He noted that his goal is to ensure that colleagues feel comfortable while performing their roles on set.
“Before filming, I ask my co-lead actor if it is okay to touch them in a certain way, especially the married ones because I don’t want them to have problems at home,” he said.
The actor also addressed speculation about his on-screen chemistry with Bambam, who plays his love interest in the movie Love In Every Word. Arukwe clarified that he had never met Bambam before they worked together on the film and that their interaction was strictly professional.
His comments come amid public reactions to romantic scenes in Nollywood films and the dynamics between actors portraying intimate roles.
