Tyler Mane is turning a private health scare into a public warning.
According to the original report, the Canadian actor, best known for playing Sabretooth in X-Men, revealed on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer.
The 59-year-old actor and former professional wrestler said he has started chemotherapy. In his video, Mane explained that breast cancer in men is rarely discussed, even though it can happen.
Mane said one in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, adding that he is now one of them. He also noted that only about 1% of breast cancer cases occur in men, which has helped create silence and stigma around the condition.
The actor admitted that his first instinct was to keep the diagnosis private because he felt embarrassed. But after learning how often men are diagnosed late, he decided to speak out.
Mane said his doctors initially dismissed the lump. According to him, it was his wife who insisted that he should have it removed, a decision he believes helped him catch the cancer early.
