The Game has addressed the attention surrounding his new track, “The Assassination of Candace Owens,” featured on his upcoming DJ Drama-assisted mixtape, Every Movie Needs a Trailer, produced by Mike & Keys.

The title sparked significant reaction online when the tracklist was released. The rapper clarified that the name is not a threat but a creative response to commentary made by political commentator Candace Owens. Owens has repeatedly claimed on her podcast that French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, allegedly placed a bounty on her life.

Speaking to TMZ Hip Hop, The Game said he used Owens’ conspiracy-themed claims as inspiration, describing the track as a metaphor-driven piece rather than a direct message to her. He emphasized that it is not a diss track, though he added that he is prepared to respond lyrically if Owens interprets it otherwise.

The Game and DJ Drama are preparing to release the long-awaited collaborative project this Friday. The rapper noted he is fully focused on the music following his recent birthday celebrations.
