Teyana Taylor made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live during the show’s January 24 episode, appearing alongside her daughters, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. and Rue Rose Shumpert.
The actress and singer opened the episode wearing a graphic white top referencing New York City, paired with oversized fur sleeves. During her monologue, Taylor addressed her recent supporting actress Academy Award nomination for One Battle After Another, describing the week as “very insane.”
Taylor joked about learning of her nomination while being fitted for a bald cap alongside cast member Mikey Day. She also referenced her recent Golden Globe win, noting that while delivering her acceptance speech, she attempted to make eye contact with her daughters, who were focused on their phones.
“I’ve worked so hard throughout my career to get to this point, and I’m just so grateful to be here with my babies cheering me on,” Taylor said during the episode.
Rock band Geese served as the musical guest for the night, joining Taylor on her SNL hosting debut.
