Sports Minister John Enoh has expressed optimism about the Super Eagles' chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their challenging position in Group C. The former African champions currently hold fifth place with only three points from four matches. To secure their spot in the mundial, the Super Eagles must win their remaining six games.

In an interview with Eagle7 FM, Enoh emphasized the potential for a turnaround. "The majority opinion is that it’s not impossible yet to qualify for the World Cup," he stated. "In sports, nothing is impossible.

We have only played four out of ten qualifying matches and still have six remaining. With the right coach, mentality, and hunger from the players, it is still possible."

The Super Eagles are set to face Rwanda in March 2025 when the qualifiers resume, followed by a match against the Warriors of Zimbabwe later that month.
