Nigerian comedian and Master of Ceremonies Sunday Onyenachiya, known as Sunny Messiah, recently premiered his stand-up special, SUNNY MESSIAH: Paternity Leave, in Lagos.
The show combined sharp, intelligent humor with his signature articulate English, taking audiences through the trials and joys of fatherhood, marriage, family life, and modern Nigerian adulthood.
The performance drew consistent laughter, applause, and engagement from fans, media partners, cultural influencers, and industry insiders.
“Paternity Leave is my story—the love, stress, and little madness of raising a family. I wanted people to relate and maybe even find hope or courage through laughter,” Sunny Messiah said after the taping.
The evening featured performances from rising comedians including Chime Francis, Iykomo, Dexmond, Funny Urch, Saint Envi, and AkanLaff, as well as a bass solo by HenryFretz and music by P’Madox. Ebuka Mic served as host, keeping the event energetic, while a surprise appearance by Senator Comedian added to the excitement.
Sunny Messiah, who is also a Lagos-based architect, confirmed that post-production on the special has begun and that the release platform and premiere date will be announced soon. He also revealed plans for another comedy special next year, supported by his production team and brand partners, aimed at both local and international audiences.
