People Daily also reported a pledge by Owino to raise the minimum pay of police officers to KSh100,000 if the movement forms the next government. Police deployed across the city after warning that rival groups could cause disruption. The warning said lawful assembly at Jacaranda would be protected, while large processions in parts of the CBD faced restrictions.
Reports that some businesses closed and that the procession continued despite the warning are supported by videos and Kenyan media. More inflammatory descriptions of Nairobi as a “battlefield” are not supported by an official casualty report or verified evidence of citywide fighting from Sunday's event.
The caution matters because recent Linda Mwananchi events have included disputed security incidents.
