A Vybz Kartel show in Ghana may no longer be just fan fantasy.
According to GhanaWeb, Shatta Wale has revealed that conversations are already happening behind the scenes to bring the Jamaican dancehall icon to Ghana for a major event.
The Ghanaian star made the comments during a YouTube interview with Nigerian pop culture personality Adesope Olajide, published on June 7. When asked whether he planned to bring Vybz Kartel to Ghana, Shatta described the idea as a serious question and said he was already working on it.
But the “On God” hitmaker also made it clear that he is not rushing the process.
Shatta Wale said he wants to give Kartel enough time to settle after his release from prison and organise his own plans before taking on international appearances. For him, the goal is not to chase hype or take advantage of their connection, but to make sure the visit makes business sense.
That is why discussions with promoters are important. Shatta said any Ghana show involving Vybz Kartel must be properly planned, properly funded, and valuable enough for the Jamaican legend to accept.
He also stressed that he wants Kartel’s visit to Ghana to be centred on work and business, not just friendship or social media excitement.
The potential move would be a major cultural moment for African dancehall. Ghana has long had a strong relationship with Jamaican sounds, and Shatta Wale has built much of his career by blending local street energy with dancehall influence.
During the same interview, Shatta Wale also spoke about the power of the Shatta Movement fanbase. He compared his supporters to major global fan communities such as Beyoncé’s BeyHive and Wizkid FC, highlighting the loyalty that has kept his brand visible for years.
He also credited his longtime associate and manager Sammy Flex for helping communicate his ideas and decisions to fans, especially when his moves appear controversial or risky from the outside.
For now, there is no confirmed date, venue, or official announcement for a Vybz Kartel concert in Ghana. But Shatta Wale’s comments have added fresh fuel to the conversation — and if the plan comes together, it could become one of the biggest dancehall events Ghana has seen in years.
