Nigerian Afro-soul singer and songwriter, Folasade Omolewa Ogunleye, known professionally as Sade Blaq, has spoken about the pressure to conform to beauty standards within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The Ibadan-based artiste made the remarks during an appearance on Nigerian Tribune TV’s Celebrity Chit Chat show, where she discussed societal and industry expectations placed on women regarding their physical appearance.

Responding to a question about whether she had experienced pressure to alter her body, Sade Blaq said she had encountered such expectations, including suggestions related to cosmetic enhancement trends like the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

She explained that the issue was raised during a recent interview outside Nigeria and acknowledged that conversations around body augmentation have become increasingly common in the entertainment space.

Despite this, the singer stated that she remains comfortable and confident in her natural appearance.

“I feel fine like this. I feel confident like this,” she said, adding that while pressure may exist, she does not intend to make decisions based on external influence.

According to Sade Blaq, any future consideration of cosmetic enhancement would be a personal decision rather than a response to societal or industry expectations.

She maintained that individual conviction, not public pressure, would guide her choices.
