Pastor E.A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has explained why he no longer employs female secretaries.

In a recent sermon, Adeboye cited his demanding work schedule, which often extends late into the night, as the primary reason for the decision. He expressed concern about the risks of being alone with members of the opposite sex during these hours.

“From the moment I got to a stage where, at night, I still have to work, I ceased to have a female secretary. Some people think it is gender discrimination,” he said.

Adeboye emphasized that his choice is based on practical considerations rather than a reflection on women’s capabilities. He acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of his previous female secretary, describing her as a “wonderful child of God” who served him during the earlier years of his ministry.

“But if we are to get a secretary like the last one I had, she was a wonderful lady, true child of God,” he added.
