North West, the 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has officially joined Instagram, launching her first personal account under parental supervision.
The account, created on Friday, features a brief introductory post captioned “first post.” North’s profile bio states that the account is “managed by parents,” indicating adult oversight of her activity on the platform.
North has previously appeared on social media through a joint TikTok account she shares with her mother, which was launched in 2021. That account has been a frequent point of public discussion, particularly after Kanye West expressed objections to his children’s presence on social media in past years.
In 2022, West publicly criticized Kardashian over North’s appearances on TikTok, stating that he did not support his daughter being featured on the platform. Kardashian later responded by emphasizing her role as the children’s primary caregiver and said she aimed to balance protection with allowing creative expression under supervision.
North’s move to Instagram also comes after recent online debate surrounding a Halloween costume she wore earlier this year. Photos and videos shared on TikTok showed North wearing temporary tattoos, a faux nose ring, colored contacts, and braided hair as part of a coordinated look with friends. The outfit sparked criticism from some users due to her age, though Kardashian later clarified that the look was a costume and involved only temporary accessories.
Kardashian has previously said that North participates in social media content with her approval and that comments and interactions are monitored through her own phone.
North is the eldest of Kardashian and West’s four children, which also include Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
