Moctar, who represented Niger, has won the second edition of Secret Story Afrique. His victory comes shortly after he proposed to France Mpundu, Rwanda’s representative, who finished in fourth place.
Moctar secured the top position with 46% of the public vote. Moussa followed in second place with 34.4%, Sarah ranked third with 18.8%, while France Mpundu earned 0.8%. Joel came in fifth with 0.4%. As the winner, Moctar received more than 20 million CFA francs (approximately 50 million Rwandan francs).
This marks the show’s second season in Africa, following its debut last year when Awa Sanoko of Côte d’Ivoire claimed the inaugural title.
The 2024 edition featured 18 contestants from 16 French-speaking African countries. The format, while not officially linked to Big Brother, shares similarities, including being produced by Banijay Entertainment S.A. and filmed in Johannesburg.
The three-month reality show isolates contestants from the outside world without access to television or phones. Participants must protect their assigned secrets while attempting to uncover those of their competitors.
Secret Story Afrique aired on CANAL+ POP from Monday to Friday at 20:15 and on CANAL+ Magic every Saturday at 22:30. The franchise originates from France, where it has aired for approximately 18 years on networks including TF1 and RTL Plug.
