Michael B. Jordan has revealed his all-time favorite pop-culture vampire, naming Eddie Murphy’s 1995 horror-comedy Vampire in Brooklyn as his top choice.

Speaking to People magazine during the Gotham Awards in New York City on December 1, Jordan said the film left a strong impression on him when he first saw it. Murphy’s portrayal of Maximillian, a charismatic and sinister vampire seeking an eternal partner in Angela Bassett’s character, remains his standout performance in the genre.

Jordan, 38, noted that the movie’s blend of humor and horror made it memorable, referencing the film’s tagline announcing the arrival of “the world’s last vampire” in Brooklyn.

Nearly 30 years after Murphy’s performance, Jordan has entered the vampire genre himself with Sinners, a feature film generating awards-season attention. In the project, he plays twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore, who fight to defend their 1930s hometown from invading vampires.

The narrative intensifies as one brother is bitten and transformed, altering their relationship and the direction of the story.

Sinners is currently streaming on Max and available for purchase on Prime Video and Apple TV.
