Mercy Eke Says Fame Made Her Regret Joining BBNaija

Winning Big Brother Naija changed Mercy Eke's life forever, but the reality TV star says the fame that followed has come at a personal cost.

According to The Punch, the BBNaija Season 4 winner shared on Toke Moments, hosted by Toke Makinwa, that while the show opened major doors for her career, it also took away the quiet life she once enjoyed.

Eke admitted that the constant attention that comes with being a public figure can be overwhelming. She said she sometimes watches people around her achieve major milestones without attracting the same level of public scrutiny, something she now envies.

Although she appreciates everything BBNaija has done for her career, the entrepreneur said there are moments when she wishes she had never entered the house because of the pressure that comes with living in the spotlight.

Mercy also opened up about her decision to return for BBNaija All Stars, revealing that the prize money played a big role in convincing her to compete again. However, she said she was surprised by how fiercely contestants battled for victory, even those who were already financially comfortable.

After that experience, she made it clear that another return to the reality show is not part of her future plans.

Away from television, Eke said discipline, ambition and the example set by successful Nigerian women have shaped her journey in business. She also addressed long-running speculation about her personal life, dismissing claims that a married man sponsors her lifestyle.

Instead, she revealed that she has been in a relationship with a single man for the past four years.

The reality TV star also spoke about recently completing a master's degree in the United Kingdom. She said studying business finance has strengthened her understanding of entrepreneurship and reaffirmed her belief that every opportunity to learn adds value.

Mercy Eke's reflections offer a rare look at the less glamorous side of reality TV fame, highlighting that while BBNaija can transform careers, the attention that follows often comes with sacrifices beyond the cameras.
