Ghanaian media personality and master of ceremonies MC Portfolio says he once rejected a GH¢15,000 bribe offered to influence the lineup of a music project linked to dancehall star Shatta Wale.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on March 8, 2026, Portfolio said the money was offered by the management of an emerging artist who wanted their act included in the project.

According to him, the team requested that he remove one of the Kumerica artists originally selected for the project titled “Ahodwo Las Vegas” and replace the performer with their artist.

Portfolio explained that he was involved in coordinating aspects of the project at the time but declined the offer despite personal financial challenges.

“I refused a GH¢15,000 bribe in 2020 from the team of an upcoming artiste just to remove one of the Kumerica boys from Shatta Wale’s project and replace him with their artiste,” he wrote.

Reflecting on the decision, he said he remains satisfied with his choice, noting that many of the artists who participated in the project have since achieved success in the Ghanaian music industry.

The Kumasi Invasion Project (KIP) was launched around 2020 by Shatta Wale to promote emerging musicians from Kumasi and the Ashanti Region. The initiative helped bring wider recognition to the Kumerica music movement, which gained significant attention across Ghana.

Artists associated with the movement include King Paluta, Amerado, Kofi Jamar and Ypee, whose involvement helped highlight Kumasi’s growing music scene.

Portfolio said he remains proud of his decision to maintain the original lineup.

“Today the guys who appeared on the ‘Ahodwo Las Vegas’ project are all superstars, and I would never have forgiven myself if I had blocked someone’s breakthrough simply because of greed.”
