Marina says she was unprepared after Yvan Muziki proposed during his Kigali album launch on Valentine’s Day.

Rwandan singer Marina has said she was not expecting her partner, Yvan Muziki, to propose to her during his album launch concert held in Kigali on February 13, 2026.

The proposal took place at Kigali Universe during the unveiling of Yvan Muziki’s 17-track album Inganzo Ntahangarwa. The event, held on the eve of Valentine’s Day, drew music fans and several prominent figures from the entertainment industry.

Speaking in an interview after the concert, Marina said the gesture came as a surprise.

“No, I was not prepared. It was a surprise. We had not discussed it. I did not know anything about it. I was truly surprised. Now I am a woman who has been given a ring,” she said.

Marina noted that although she had supported Yvan Muziki throughout preparations for the album launch, she did not anticipate the proposal being part of the evening’s program.

During his remarks on stage, Yvan Muziki publicly confirmed their relationship, which had previously been the subject of speculation. He said they had chosen to keep it private until the right moment.

“I was fortunate to find someone who shares the same profession in music. She is the one I love. I showed you my album, and now I show you my bride. Thank you for supporting us,” he told the audience.

Before accepting the ring, Marina removed other rings she was wearing, a gesture that was met with applause from attendees.

The couple also performed songs together during the concert, reinforcing their collaboration both professionally and personally.

The event was attended by several artists and public figures, including Massamba Intore, Jules Sentore, Yvanny Mpano, Itorero Inyamibwa and Kidum.
