Rwandan music producer Mamba has announced his transition into a recording artist, marking a new phase in his career while continuing his work behind the scenes.
The producer confirmed that he will begin releasing his own songs, joining a growing number of Rwandan producers who are also pursuing careers as performers.
Mamba said the decision was driven by his recognition that his talent extends beyond production, noting that he has the ability to write and perform his own music.
He previously showcased his vocal abilities on the track Bella, where he collaborated with Bruce Melodie, Shaffy, and Nel Ngabo on the Legacy album by Kina Music founder Ishimwe Karake Clement.
Mamba began his professional journey after graduating from the Rwanda School of Music in 2021, going on to produce songs for several artists, including Ride or Die by King James.
In addition to production, he has experience as a drummer, having performed with Sonic Band during the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival alongside artist Danny Nanone.
Speaking about his transition, Mamba said the move into singing is not new but rather a step he had long planned to pursue.
He added that he will continue producing music for other artists while building his own catalogue, following a path already taken by other Rwandan producers who balance both roles.
The shift reflects a broader trend within Rwanda’s music industry, where producers are increasingly expanding into performance, contributing to the diversification and growth of the sector.
