Lugumi Saidi trends in Rwanda amid wealth, past scandal and links to local celebrities, raising questions about his business empire.

Tanzanian businessman Lugumi Saidi has recently drawn significant attention in Rwanda, with growing public interest in his wealth, business background and reported links to local celebrities.

Lugumi, 53, is widely described as a wealthy investor with interests in multiple sectors, including technology, security services and trade. His name has increasingly appeared in entertainment circles, particularly in connection with high-profile women in Kigali.

Born in Mwanza, Tanzania, in 1972, Lugumi reportedly began his career as a street shoe vendor before relocating to Dar es Salaam in search of better opportunities. His fortunes changed after forming connections within influential circles, including marrying into the family of a former Tanzanian police chief.

He later founded Lugumi Enterprises Limited, which expanded from printing and fumigation services into information technology and security-related operations. His business interests are also linked to Tactical Defence Limited, a company associated with security equipment and arms-related trade.

Despite his business success, Lugumi’s career has not been without controversy. In 2016, he was implicated in a high-profile procurement case involving a $17.3 million contract to install fingerprint systems at police stations. Reports indicated that only a fraction of the work was completed despite most of the funds being paid, sparking public scrutiny.

Beyond business, Lugumi is also known for philanthropic activities. He has reportedly funded housing and care for more than 800 orphaned children in Tanzania, building multi-storey facilities to support their welfare and education.

His personal life has also attracted attention. In 2025, he was linked to former Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi, although the claims were denied. More recently, he has been associated with Rwandan actress Alliah Cool, with social media activity fueling speculation about a possible relationship.

Images and posts circulating online show Lugumi closely following the actress, further intensifying public interest in his private life.

As interest in Lugumi continues to grow, observers say his story reflects a mix of business ambition, controversy and celebrity attention that has made him a trending figure across East Africa.
