The Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has refuted reports circulating on social media claiming that veteran Nollywood actor Lere Paimo, popularly known as “Eda Onile Ola,” has died.

In a statement issued by its National Public Relations Officer, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the association clarified that the actor is alive and in stable health, contrary to reports published by some online platforms.

“We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are false. We have confirmed with Baba Eda Onile Ola’s wife that he is alive and in good health,” the statement said.

ANTP urged members of the public to dismiss the misleading reports, describing them as the work of individuals attempting to spread misinformation. The association also emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing it.

Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR), who currently serves as Chairman of ANTP’s Board of Trustees, is 86 years old. He is a celebrated actor, filmmaker, and director whose career began in 1958. He has featured in numerous acclaimed productions, including Saworoide, Oleku, and Ogbori Elemonso.
