Johnny Depp has sparked online interest after sharing a cryptic TikTok video that appears to tease a new business venture inspired by his iconic Pirates of the Caribbean persona.


The short clip features a tattooed hand, widely believed to be Depp’s, writing the phrase “As it happens, the rum is not gone” with a quill on aged parchment. The video uses maritime-themed visuals, including dim, ocean-like lighting, a compass charm, skull-and-crossbones imagery, and a glass bottle decorated with raised symbols and heart-shaped markings.


The video concludes with an “X” marked on the paper and directs viewers to a website for Three Hearts Rum, a limited-edition release created by Depp. According to the brand’s official site, the rum is described as being “rooted in loyalty” and “driven by purpose.” Pre-orders are scheduled to open on December 24, though no shipping timeline has been disclosed.


An Instagram account for Three Hearts Rum launched alongside the TikTok and quickly drew attention from fans, with early comments expressing enthusiasm for the project.


While the announcement appeared sudden, earlier reports from March 2024 indicated that Depp had been quietly developing the rum venture, intentionally drawing on nautical and pirate imagery linked to his personal tattoos and long-standing screen persona.


The move follows Depp’s past public remarks about financial strain. During a 2020 court case, he said he had lost much of his estimated $650 million fortune, referencing high spending habits, including costly wine purchases.


Depp’s acting career slowed in recent years amid high-profile legal disputes with his former wife, Amber Heard, which unfolded in courts in both the United Kingdom and the United States. In the U.S.


defamation trial, a jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, while Heard received $2 million on one counterclaim.


The latest reveal suggests the actor is continuing to explore ventures outside of film as he re-engages with audiences through new creative and commercial projects.
