James Gardener says actors must remain versatile and open to different movie roles in the film industry.

Ghanaian actor and Deputy CEO of the National Film Authority (NFA), James Gardener, says he does not believe in rejecting movie roles, stressing that versatility is a key part of acting.

Speaking in an interview, Gardener explained that actors are expected to adapt to different characters and situations, making flexibility an important quality in the profession. According to him, he is willing to take on any role provided the story is meaningful and well-structured.

“Whatever role that you give me, I’m supposed to adapt,” Gardener said, adding that he does not see himself refusing a role simply because of the character involved.

The actor noted, however, that discussions could still happen regarding how certain characters are portrayed on screen. He said there may be opportunities to adjust or refine aspects of a role when necessary.

Gardener emphasized that acting goes beyond personal comfort zones and requires performers to fully embody different personalities and experiences. He added that versatility remains one of the defining qualities of a successful actor in today’s evolving film industry.

His remarks reflect a broader trend within the entertainment industry, where actors are increasingly encouraged to embrace diverse roles and challenge themselves creatively.
