Kenyan socialite and cosmetics entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has stirred online debate after listing several historic African leaders she claimed she “would have married” if she had lived in their eras.

In a social media post, Huddah named Libya’s former ruler Muammar Gaddafi, Burkina Faso’s revolutionary leader Thomas Sankara, Ethiopia’s former emperor Haile Selassie and Kenya’s second president Daniel Arap Moi. She invited followers to suggest additional names, framing the list as a playful, hypothetical exercise.

Huddah rose to prominence after participating in the eighth season of Big Brother Africa, where she was evicted on Day 7. She now runs a cosmetics brand and maintains a strong online presence.

Gaddafi, who ruled Libya from 1969 until his overthrow in 2011, remains one of Africa’s most controversial leaders. Sankara, known for his Pan-African vision and sweeping reforms in Burkina Faso, was assassinated in 1987 and continues to be regarded as a revolutionary icon.

Selassie, who led Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974, is remembered for his modernisation efforts, his complex political legacy and his symbolic role within the Rastafari movement. Moi, who served as Kenya’s president from 1978 to 2002, remains a significant and contested figure in Kenya’s political history.

Huddah made no political analysis in her post, instead presenting it as an imaginative scenario. Fans responded with humour and their own suggestions, while one follower questioned whether the leaders would have chosen her. Huddah dismissed the comment, telling him to “go ask them.”
