On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Grace Kutino officially assumed office as the Minister of Youth and Patriotic Awakening in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, marking a new chapter for the nation’s young generation.
Appointed by Presidential Decree under the Suminwa II government on August 8, Kutino succeeded Noëlla Ayeganagato Nakwipone, who now serves as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The handover ceremony took place at 10:00 AM at the Ministry’s headquarters in Kinshasa, where Minister Kutino received military honors upon arrival.
After a warm reception, Kutino addressed her staff and the nation with a powerful message:
I measure the greatness of this responsibility. I believe in Congolese youth. I believe in the vision of the Head of State. I know that God will be with us to accomplish this great task entrusted to us.”
Immediately after taking office, Minister Kutino met with General Secretary Thérèse Mbujibungi for a working session. The meeting focused on understanding the strategic priorities and current operations of the ministry. According to insiders, she also personally greeted members of the cabinet team and encouraged a spirit of unity and service.
Her commitment to building on the legacy of her predecessor has been received with optimism by many within the ministry.
The Ministry of Youth and Patriotic Awakening holds immense strategic importance in a country where over 70% of the population is under 30. As Congo positions itself as a future global economic power, the ministry has become a focal point for national transformation.
Congo’s youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the engine of today’s progress,” remarked a senior official close to the Presidency.
With Kutino’s background in faith, civic activism, and leadership, her appointment is seen as symbolic and forward-thinking, bridging moral values, national vision, and grassroots engagement.
