Thousands of music fans gathered at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday as the GT Muzik Concert brought together leading artistes from Ghana and Nigeria for a night of live performances that stretched into the early hours of the following day.
Although the event began later than scheduled, the delay did little to affect the atmosphere inside the stadium. Once performances commenced, the venue quickly transformed into a lively celebration, with patrons singing, dancing and cheering throughout the night.
The concert opened with Nigerian reggae and dancehall star Patoranking, who set the pace with an energetic performance that drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd. Fellow Nigerian singer Joeboy followed with a more relaxed set, delivering popular romantic tracks that encouraged mass sing-alongs. Afrobeats performer Fireboy DML maintained the momentum with a series of soulful performances, while songs such as Peru, Tattoo and Playboy were warmly received by fans.
Rising Nigerian star Ayra Starr later added youthful energy to the show, performing fan favourites including Rush, Bloody Samaritan and Sability, as the audience responded with loud cheers and coordinated dance moves.
Ghanaian artistes also featured prominently during the concert. King Promise impressed with a polished performance that highlighted his vocal delivery and hit catalogue, with tracks such as CCTV, Slow Down and Terminator drawing strong reactions from the crowd. Award-winning duo R2Bees further raised the energy with a string of their well-known songs, turning the stadium into a large sing-along arena.
One of the evening’s standout moments came when rapper Sarkodie took the stage, performing several of his popular tracks to sustained cheers as fans rapped along. The concert concluded with Shatta Wale as the final act, delivering a high-energy set that included songs such as On God, Freedom and Gringo, bringing the event to a climactic close.
The GT Muzik Concert once again highlighted the strong cross-border appeal of Ghanaian and Nigerian music, drawing a large audience and showcasing a blend of Afrobeats, dancehall and hip-hop performances.
