The FARDC has called for stronger national unity and public support for troops engaged in anti-terror operations in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a statement reported by 7SUR7.CD on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
The statement, signed by acting FARDC spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mongba Hazukay Mak, said Congolese forces remain engaged against armed groups including the ADF/MTM-ISCAP, alongside Uganda, Burundi and MONUSCO.
The appeal comes as joint FARDC-UPDF operations under Operation Shujaa continue to target ADF positions in eastern DRC, with Ugandan military officials saying both armies recently reviewed ongoing operations in Beni.
FARDC also warned against public statements it said could weaken troop morale or discredit military efforts. The army urged citizens to reject hateful or demoralizing rhetoric and instead promote peace, responsibility and national cohesion.
The ADF threat remains a serious concern in eastern Congo, where Amnesty International recently reported a surge in abuses against civilians attributed to ADF fighters.
The army said it appreciated the sacrifice of military officials and partner forces involved in the mission, while calling for continued support for peace and stability in both DRC and the wider Great Lakes region.
