Addis Ababa, April 19, 2024 – Ethiopia, recognized as a pivotal nation within the Horn of Africa, continues to affirm its dedication to fostering regional peace and development, as stated by the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mesganu Arga, during an exclusive interview with the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).

Addressing a range of diplomatic and regional issues, Minister Arga emphasized Ethiopia's significant role as a stabilizing force across the Horn of Africa.

"Ethiopia has been instrumental in peacekeeping and developmental efforts in countries like Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan," he noted, highlighting the nation’s strategic contributions to ensuring stability in these regions.

The minister outlined that Ethiopia's foreign policy is built on key pillars including strengthening partnerships with neighboring nations and promoting economic integration.

"Our focus on achieving sustained economic growth through joint regional development and peace is a cornerstone of our approach," Mesganu explained.

With the current global and regional geopolitical shifts, particularly affecting the Red Sea and the Middle East, Ethiopia is proactive in its international collaborations.

Ethiopia's strategic efforts extend to securing the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, areas essential to the nation's global commercial activities. "The Red Sea is vital for our international trade routes, and securing this channel is crucial for our national interests," the state minister remarked.

In his concluding statements, Mesganu stressed the intertwined destinies of the East African region, advocating for mutual development and economic synergy.

"Our regional stability, economic growth, and collaborative efforts are fundamental to our shared future in the Horn of Africa," he affirmed.
