The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State during a sting operation carried out on Monday, September 29, 2025.


The Operation

According to the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate, the suspects were picked up at various locations across Benin City following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in computer-related crimes.


The agency stressed that all lawful procedures were followed during the arrests.


Seized Items

EFCC operatives recovered 11 vehicles and several mobile devices believed to have been used in fraudulent activities.

Next Steps

Preliminary investigations link the suspects to different forms of internet fraud. The EFCC confirmed they will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
