Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy has revealed that allowing former label signee Di’Ja to leave the music label was one of the most difficult moments of his career.

Speaking during an interview shared online by Pulse Nigeria, the veteran producer reflected on the emotional challenges of managing artistes and handling exits from the label.

According to Don Jazzy, the decision affected him deeply because he considered artistes under Mavin Records as family.

“Another difficult thing was, I think when I had to let Di’Ja go, yeah, that was difficult,” he said.

The music executive added that the experience changed how such matters are handled within the label.

“And I don’t think I’ve let anybody go again by myself,” he stated, explaining that other management members now oversee similar discussions involving artistes leaving the record company.

Don Jazzy also noted that the emotional bond between him and Di’Ja made the process painful for both sides.

“Because everybody in the Mavin record label is like my child, to be honest. So that was hard for both of us together,” he added.

Recalling the moment, he said Di’Ja noticed how difficult the conversation was for him emotionally.

Di’Ja was among the first artistes signed to Mavin Records after its establishment in 2012 following the breakup of Mo’Hits Records. She later became known for songs such as Awww and Yaro.

The comments have since generated reactions on social media, with fans praising Don Jazzy for maintaining strong personal relationships with artistes signed to his label.
