British-Ghanaian entrepreneur and music producer Akosua Dentaa Amoateng has said Ghana missed an opportunity to secure its first Grammy Award through Shatta Wale’s collaboration with global pop star Beyoncé.

Speaking on Fiifi Pratt’s programme on Aluta FM on December 10, 2025, Dentaa Amoateng stated that the song Already was released at a time when it could have positioned Ghana strongly for Grammy recognition.

According to her, Shatta Wale had the profile and momentum needed to push Ghana onto the Grammy stage through the collaboration. She added that the timing of the project aligned with what was required for consideration by the Recording Academy.

Her remarks followed the announcement of the 2026 Grammy nominations, in which Ghana failed to receive a nomination despite submissions from artistes including Shatta Wale, Moliy and Black Sherif.

Dentaa, who works as a consultant for the Grammy Recording Academy, acknowledged Ghana’s musical depth, naming artistes such as Rocky Dawuni, Samini, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy as musicians with the potential to earn Grammy recognition.

She also shared a light-hearted account of a past conversation with Shatta Wale, describing him as personable and humorous, and encouraged the public to appreciate his individuality.

A video of the interview has been shared online.
