Davido says he will pause music activities for two months to support Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid.

Afrobeats singer Davido has announced a temporary pause in his music career to support the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team in Ede, the singer said he would dedicate the next two months to political mobilisation activities across the state.

Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, said his decision was influenced by both family ties and his belief in the governor’s performance in office.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle,” he said during the event.

The singer also urged members of the campaign team to engage in grassroots mobilisation and promote the administration’s achievements across Osun’s local government areas.

According to the committee structure announced at the inauguration, Davido will serve as chairman of the Imole Campaign Council Youth Committee.

The committee has been tasked with coordinating youth engagement and mobilisation efforts ahead of the governorship election.
