Davido is back in solo mode—and he's making it clear that a new era is loading.
The Afrobeats heavyweight has confirmed that his next single, I Know Who I Be, will arrive on June 26. The announcement instantly sparked excitement among fans, especially after the singer previously suggested he would be stepping away from recording for a while.
According to Daily Post, Davido revealed the upcoming release through his official X account on Monday. The track features Jazzwrld and GL_Ceejay and comes with a bold message from the Nigerian superstar: “the journey to the throne begins.”
The timing has caught many fans by surprise. In May, Davido spoke about taking a temporary break from making music, leading some to believe a longer pause was ahead. Instead, the award-winning artist appears ready to kick off another chapter in his career.
I Know Who I Be will mark Davido’s first solo release since Be There Still, which dropped in March 2025. While he has not released a solo record since then, he has remained active on the international music circuit, recently appearing on TxC’s track Nakupenda.
The new single also follows a major moment on the global stage. Earlier this year, Davido performed at the opening concert of the FIFA World Cup 2026 countdown series in Los Angeles, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most visible music exports.
For more than a decade, Davido has been one of the driving forces behind Afrobeats' rise worldwide. Since breaking through with Dami Duro in 2012, he has built an impressive catalogue that includes Omo Baba Olowo, A Good Time, A Better Time, and the Grammy-nominated Timeless.
With the countdown now underway, expectations are high for I Know Who I Be. Beyond being a new release, the song represents Davido’s latest move in a career that continues to push Afrobeats deeper into the global mainstream.
