Nigerian singer Davido has publicly condemned a bullying incident at Igbinedion Educational Centre in Edo State after a disturbing video showing students attacking a classmate circulated widely on social media.
The viral footage shows two male students repeatedly hitting, slapping and stomping on another student who was lying helplessly on the ground. A third student, whose face was not visible in the video, could be heard pleading with the attackers to stop.
Reacting to the video on social media platform X, Davido expressed outrage over the incident, describing the actions as unacceptable.
“Fucking Animals .. so disgusting,” the Grammy-nominated singer wrote in response to the footage.
Following the incident, the family of one of the students involved issued a public apology. In a statement signed by Tim Asoro on behalf of the Asoro family, the parents said they were deeply shocked and embarrassed after watching the video.
They acknowledged the distress caused to the victim and his family, stating that no child deserves to experience such treatment and expressing regret over their child’s involvement in the assault.
Authorities have since taken action over the incident. The Edo State Police Command confirmed that the school management had been summoned and instructed to hand over the students involved for investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Ministry of Education announced the formation of a five-member investigative committee tasked with determining the circumstances surrounding the incident and identifying all students involved.
