Cristiano Ronaldo has officially joined the cast of the Fast & Furious film franchise, marking a crossover between global football stardom and one of Hollywood’s most successful action series.

The development was confirmed by franchise lead Vin Diesel, who revealed that a role had been written specifically for the Portuguese football icon in the upcoming film Fast X: Part 2. The sequel is currently slated for release in April 2027.

Following the confirmation, actor Tyrese Gibson publicly welcomed Ronaldo to the franchise through a post on Instagram. Gibson shared a group photo taken on set that included Ronaldo alongside several key cast members, including Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez.

In his message, Gibson described Ronaldo’s involvement as a significant addition to the franchise, noting the global reach and profile the footballer brings to the series. Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished players in football history, is 40 years old.

Diesel also addressed long-running speculation about Ronaldo’s potential involvement, stating that the production team had deliberately developed a role for him within the Fast & Furious storyline.

The Fast & Furious franchise, which began in 2001, has increasingly expanded its ensemble cast with high-profile figures from sports and entertainment, reflecting its evolution into a global action brand.
