RuffTown Records founder Bullet has called on organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to reinstate dancehall artist Shatta Wale to the award scheme.

Speaking during an interview, Bullet said Shatta Wale’s participation in events consistently brings excitement, competition and increased public interest.

“I think they should bring back Shatta Wale. If only they are willing to and would listen to me, they should bring him back,” he said.

According to Bullet, the artist’s fanbase plays a major role in creating energy and engagement at entertainment events.

“They should bring him back to make it more fun because, after all, he is still a Ghanaian musician, so they should talk things out with him and bring him back,” he stated during an interview on OKAY FM.

Bullet added that healthy competition within the music industry helps improve entertainment value and audience participation.

“I do not care if anybody disagrees, but I am saying what I also think. We all need competition, and I know when SM is involved in something, no doubt it makes it fun,” he added.

Shatta Wale’s relationship with the TGMA has remained strained since the widely publicised incident involving fellow dancehall artist Stonebwoy during the 2019 edition of the awards.

The altercation occurred after Stonebwoy was announced winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category. A confrontation between members of both camps caused disruption at the venue, while Stonebwoy briefly displayed a firearm on stage, leading to panic among attendees.

Both artists were later arrested and granted bail following the incident, which remains one of the most controversial moments in the history of the TGMA.
