Nigerian comedian and content creator Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge while the comedian was filming a comedy skit with his team.
A police source familiar with the situation said the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. The source explained that Broda Shaggy was injured during the filming session and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by members of his crew.
He was first taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where medical personnel reportedly administered initial treatment upon arrival.
The comedian was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, where he is said to be receiving further medical care and recovering from the injury.
Officials from the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the hospital alerted authorities after a gunshot victim was admitted to the facility. Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said detectives were deployed to the hospital following the report.
According to the police, the victim was identified as Broda Shaggy and was found with an injury to his thigh. Authorities noted that the alleged incident took place in Sango-Ota, which falls outside Lagos police jurisdiction, but investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command said the incident had not been formally reported in the state at the time of inquiries.
Attempts to reach Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu (Penzaar), for comments were unsuccessful as calls and messages had not been returned at the time the report was filed.
Authorities say investigations are continuing to determine how the incident occurred.
