British rapper Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, professionally known as Central Cee, has confirmed that he has converted to Islam.

The UK drill artist made the disclosure during a recent livestream, where he told viewers that he had taken the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith. In the video, Central Cee said he had also changed his name following the conversion, as friends present congratulated him.

Before the announcement, Central Cee had not publicly identified with any religion.

Born on June 4, 1998, in London, Central Cee was raised in Shepherd’s Bush by his mother alongside his two younger brothers after his parents separated when he was seven. His father is of Guyanese and Chinese descent.

Central Cee began his music career in 2014 and rose to prominence with the release of his breakout single Day in the Life in 2020. He has since become one of the leading figures in the UK drill music scene.
