Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has recounted how he narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt in Osogbo, Osun State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred near Oke-Fia close to the Government House, was confirmed by the Osun State Government. The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, described the development as a serious security concern.
According to B-Red, the situation began while he was returning from Alekuwodo Market.
He said he noticed a group of commercial motorcyclists wearing similar caps attempting to surround his vehicle at a traffic point under the Oke-Fia Bridge.
He added that the situation escalated when a white Toyota Venza approached, and one of its occupants allegedly shouted, “It is him,” triggering a pursuit.
The singer said both the vehicle and the motorcyclists chased him through nearby streets, repeatedly attempting to block his movement. He eventually drove into the premises of the Osun State Government House, where he found safety.
B-Red further claimed he identified one of the occupants of the pursuing vehicle as an individual he described as a known political thug.
The Osun State Government stated that the matter has been reported to security agencies and called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved.
Authorities emphasized that the incident should not be treated lightly due to its potential security implications.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
